No Babysitter Needed! Annapolis Baygrass Music Festival: Jam to Save the Bay

September 17, 2024 by Stacey Coles

Every jam saves the Chesapeake Bay! That’s the motto for The Annapolis Baygrass Music Festival at Sandy Point State Park’s Beachfront Venue on Saturday, September 21, through Sunday, September 22 from 11:30 am to 10:00 pm each day.

As written on the event’s website, “Baygrass is a conservation and community-focused musical event that blends the finest progressive bluegrass, jamgrass, and Americana music with a gorgeous beachfront venue, and a mission to protect the Chesapeake Bay and raise mental health awareness.”

The Annapolis Baygrass Music Festival will obviously feature awesome bands, plus kids activities, delicious food and drink options, and workshops. Part of all proceeds from ticket, food, beverage, and merchandise sales will go to Maryland-based non-profit organizations including Watershed Stewards Academy, Oyster Recovery Partnership, and Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay.

Baygrass festival-goers will enjoy 14 of the best local and Nationally touring bands on two alternating stages! The lineup includes Oteil & Friends, The Infamous Stringdusters, Leftover Salmon, Sam Bush, Kitchen Dwellers, Sierra Hull, Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country, Cris Jacobs & Friends, Trouble No More,  The Lil Smokies, The Dirty Grass Players, Big Richard, Brown Eyed Women, Geraldine, Jennifer Hartswick, Natalie Cressman, and Ron Holloway.

What’s even more exciting is you don’t need a babysitter to enjoy the festival! Bring the kids along! The event features Kidz Cove which will be the hub for beach games, activities, crafts, and workshops. Be sure to bring reusable water bottles for the entire family as this is a green event! Plus, there is a bathhouse with clean bathrooms, showers, and changing rooms to accommodate your family.

The locally sourced food and beverages are also a Baygrass Music Festival experience highlight. From fresh lump crab cakes and oysters to gourmet BBQ and vegan and vegetarian specialties, there’s sure to be something to satisfy your entire family’s taste buds. Plus, enjoy tasty microbrews at the Baytoberfest Beer Garden and fresh craft cocktails, mocktails, and wines at the Blue Crab Beach Bar. Looking to further elevate the experience? The VIP option offers chef-prepared, daily hot meals, VIP bars with discounted drinks and free tastings from local breweries and spirits partners, and much more!

Another Annapolis Baygrass Music Festival highlight is the education and music workshops. Under the Baygrass Workshop Pavilion, experience intimate engagement with the 2024 Baygrass Artists, dive into Mental Wellness 101, discover the sustainability and culinary uses of blue catfish, learn how to shuck oysters like a pro and more!

Baygrass is all about teaching people the importance of conservation, sustainability, and mental health in a rhythmic and fun way. They mix learning with good times, so you can enjoy yourself while picking up helpful tips on caring for the planet and your well-being! Publishing for the 2

Publishing for the 250th anniversary of the United States, Dr. Emily Sneff’s latest book, When the Declaration of Independence Was News, focuses on the nation’s founding document at the moment of its creation in 1776, before anyone knew what the legacy of the Declaration would be or if the United States would win the war against Great Britain. It explores how the Declaration was communicated to people in the new nation and around the Atlantic world and reveals the stories of the many people involved in the process of declaring independence, from printers to soldiers to diplomats to translators.
Dr. Emily Sneff is an early American historian and leading expert on the Declaration of Independence. She earned her Ph.D. in History from William & Mary. She is a consulting curator for exhibitions marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration at the Museum of the American Revolution and Historic Trappe.
